Message from NARSA/IDEA Executive Director Mark Taylor

Dear Cooling Systems and DPF Professionals,

It is a new dawn for the United States as we get back to enjoying some of the things we have missed for the last year and a half. We have weathered the storm and hopefully the rest of the world is right behind us. With summer comes an increase in travel, vacations, products and services which all equate to an increase in business. Hopefully your business is positioned to be able to capitalize on a re-energized economy.

NARSA/IDEA has planned an in-person event in the Grapevine/Dallas/Ft Worth, Texas area in September. We are really looking forward to resuming our schedule of events this fall. Not only will we be together in September, but AAPEX is busy orchestrating Automotive Industry week in Las Vegas the first week of November. Please mark your calendars with the dates for both of these events. I know we are looking forward to seeing and talking to our peers, who most of us have been separated from for well over a year.

There is additional information in this newsletter outlining the exact dates for these two events. We look forward to reconnecting with you at the end of the summer. The NARSA/IDEA staff is planning an exciting program, so we hope you won’t miss it. Grapevine, TX is truly a family friendly town close to the big city with lots to see and do. Use the fall conference as an opportunity for your entire family to get away and enjoy all of the fun activities in the area.

See you in September,

Mark Taylor

2021 Fall Conference

The 2021 NARSA/IDEA Fall Conference will take place September 16-17, 2021, and we are working on a fantastic lineup of programs, tours, and events! Everyone is ready to get back to in-person gatherings, and we are looking forward to a well-attended gathering.

Our host hotel this year is the Gaylord Texan hotel in Grapevine, Texas. Discounted rates for NARSA/IDEA members are $226.86 per night. If you’d prefer to stay at another location, there are several hotels in downtown Grapevine and the Dallas/Fort Worth area!

On Thursday, we’ll have a day of programming at the Grapevine Convention Center. Economist Dr. Mary Kelly will join the NARSA/IDEA family once again and share information with us about succession planning and improving your leadership skills. We’ll also have additional speakers, panels, and information sessions to make sure that your business has all the tools it needs to succeed and grow in the current market. We’ll finish the day with a BBQ vendor dinner so that you can network with other NARSA/IDEA members!

While Thursday will be programming focused, Friday we will be doing a “DPF/Radiator Road Tour.” Our members will have the opportunity to tour and view several different shops and facilities in and around the Dallas area. This will be a fantastic opportunity for a behind the scenes tour of some of the leading businesses in our industry.

Registration for our Fall Conference will open on Monday, July 12, 2021. Make sure to save the dates for this event! We’ll send another email out once registration opens.

If you’re interested in sponsorships or exhibiting, please email marymargaret@narsa.org.

Open Seats for NARSA/IDEA Board of Directors

Nominations are now open for candidates seeking election to the Board of Directors of NARSA/IDEA – The International Heat Transfer and Diesel Emissions Association. The Board is responsible for setting policy, reviewing programs, developing projects and approving budgets for sustaining the overall financial health of the organization. The Board provides for the direction of staff and association resources to accomplish the objectives of the organization. The Board of Directors meets four times a year – one meeting at the HD Conference in the fall in person and the others virtually.

Each board seat carries a two-year term. The NARSA Board of Directors can consist of a minimum of eight (8), and a maximum of thirteen (13) members. Those who are not serving on the current board will go through an interview process during which the Nominations Committee (current president, chairman, and executive director) will interview prospective candidates. During the process, the NARSA/IDEA leadership will also be able to review board member responsibilities and expectations with candidates. Nominations will remain open until July 15, 2021.

Election is by the Board of Directors, and the election will be held at its September meeting. For additional information contact NARSA/IDEA Chairman Aaron Morrow, aaron.morrow@johnsonmfg.com, or Executive Director Mark Taylor, mtaylor@narsa.org or call (410) 320-5119.
