Québec Ombudsman’s special report on how the first wave of the pandemic was managed in CHSLDs

On November 23, 2021, Québec Ombudsperson Marie Rinfret released her findings about how the COVID-19 crisis was handled in residential and long-term care centres (CHSLDs) during the first wave of the pandemic. Her special report zeros in on the main failings that led to multiple outbreaks and deaths in these living environments. It also proposes realistic and sustainable solutions.

Ms. Rinfret made 27 recommendations to the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux and to the Minister. She insisted on the need to act on the recommendations urgently.
